Well I thought I would post what I am working on for me. I have a couple of things I'm trying to get sorted before I start, and was hoping maybe you guys would have some insight. I will really only have time to work on it when I have some time but my Son doesn't, his mazda is priority.

Here is what I got, a 1977 ford f100 with a 400m and an auto tranny.

What I am kinda going for

I would love to run 24 x 15s in the rear and a 22 in the front, but I doubt I will ever have the coin for that.

I picked up an intake, barry grant carb, a double roller timing chain(the 400s had retarded cams for emissions, changing it straight up makes a big difference) and a couple of different performance cams.

Now I have available a 70's chevy c10, I am thinking of cutting off the front suspension to graft onto the front of my ford. I figure the track widths are almost identical, at one point the frame widths are the same, and people bag the c10's on huge wheels all the time so it should make for an easily modifiable platform.

Hunter I hope you are reading this!
Now one problem I have is I really want to get my stereo in this but here is what I got...

2 of these eclipse 15" titanium, sw9152

2 of these eclipse really big amps da7232

and then 2 sets of 6.5 components and 2 smaller eclipse amps rated around 500 watts to run those.

I figure the sub box can be 18" x 54" by as deep as needed. I am thinking about instead of putting the box in the bed and making a blow through, that I would instead build a metal box that would weld to the cab. It would be part of the cab itself, I would probably actually have to put some body mounts on it to support the weight. I hope it makes sense. I was wondering what people thought of that? I also need to find someone to design the box for me, I have more than enough skill to build it just don't have the knowledge to design it.

Hey man looks like a cool project. I am doing a 69 f100 right now. I am going a bit diffrent direction than you but I am very familar with these trucks and would be willing to help with any ????. If I were you I would go mustang II in the front, there are a couple companies offering kits for the front (Fatman Fabrication, and Chassis Tech both have kits). If you run those kits with drop spindels you should be able to lay frame. I did mine before they made kits for these trucks so I have bagged i beams but I am not trying to lay fram just get it a bit lower. Here are some pics of my project.

Sweet engine! Looks like a windsor of some sort.

Not a fan of the mII for bagging something, there just isn't a lot of room for stuff btw the control arms, and hard to get good lift. The kits are way over my budget and usually not really designed for "laying out". I want to still use it like a truck, so I figure a truck front suspension would be a safe bet. From the measurements I have taken it actually looks like it should work really well.

My only regret is they did not have the 18's or the pros when I bought them. They haven't been in a vehicle for probably 7 years, really sucks. I did one contest when they were in my burb, it was a local deal so I don't know how accurate it was, but I hit a 153db with only one sub working. They were just in a box I had laying around that I threw in so I could take it to the contest. I need to figure out my box design and start building.

Nice project Husker, did you ever get rid of that 84 Mazda?
huskerdually   +1y
Ya I did, sold them both to a kid for a little profit. They were just to small for me and with the title issue I didn't want to mess with them. I'm not sure the mouse piss smell was ever going to come out either. I couldn't believe how bad it was even after I cleaned it, pulled the windshield, rear window and had the side windows down for almost a year. I don't know the biggest thing was my wife liked the ford better. I'm a ford guy and like horsepower, so I thought this truck was more what I was looking to build.

He mentioned something about making it 4x4. He was a diesel nut, he claimed to have an 80's or 90's ranger with a factory diesel in it, I don't remember such a beast.

I just came across this rendering, like the colors. I think copper has been a little played out, but this looks more orange to me.
