Okay i was helping a friend wire his starter in on a 98 f150, as per him.i attached the wires where they should have went. After doing so we attached batterues neg terminal and sparks started flying and smoke came out of a ground attached from manifold to fire wall. Almost melted ground terminal to the battery!
So after this i removed alk wires got diagram an wired it correctly. Starter spins and engages, but the motor doesnt turn over, all lights radio etc work. Would this be a bad starter relay? Or a fusable link? I know this is mazda but i want help from anywhere i can get it. The engine is a 5.4 triton. Thanks for any help.
Oh we tried replacing tge braided line ground but no go there
