yesterday, i got a rear shaft seal since i could see the old one separated and slid out on the yoke.
etched where one bolt met pinion to reinstall as it was, in case things were balanced or something. dropped driveshaft, pulled old seal straight out, put new seal in, slid yoke back in transmission, reinstalled on pinion, and reattached carrier bearing as it all came off. refilled trans with 75W-90 to make up for what came out with seal.

today, when i went to drive it, it clunks. ive only moved it back and forth in my driveway a few times, but it makes bad clunking noises from around the transmission. sounds like what i'd assume shitty pinion angle sounds like, or a driveshaft rammed too far up in the tranny might sound like...
its all installed the same as before. the carrier bearing was pushed to the end of its oval bolt holes, as it was before, so there was no real room for adjustment to begin with.... fluid topped off til drips out fill hole... no change in noises regardless of ride height. happens in reverse and forward.

u joints in drive shaft .. If you hear it when at slow speed - or in your case just moving it - means you got really bad joints . check and see if you have alot of movement in your drive shaft joints . i am thinking thats whats wrong.

or i could install the carrier bearing right side up so it doesnt push the u-joint into the crossmember...

yea. spent so much time making sure splines went back as they were on the yoke, and bolts in the same spot on the pinion, didnt notice the carrier bearing mount is offset, and should only go one way... not the way i had it
