Yeah, maybe not a bad idea. I could always order a brand-new switch from AutoZone for $60, and just not use it if I can fix mine. I can afford $60. Or I may just try for another used switch, now that I know exactly what to look for.

Where is this switch? Having trouble with dash lights myself. I tried jumping the terminals & eliminating the dimmer switch...still no luck. The problem is deeper.

Well, since my previous post, my headlights also went out. I tried to clean the contacts on the headlight switch, but ended up just taking the headlight switch part out of a used combination switch I had, and transplanting that headlight switch into my existing combination switch (as I didn't have any issue with the turn signal part or the wiper switch part. That fixed everything for me (so I no longer use that temporary toggle switch either).

The headlight switch is on the left side of the combination switch. The steering wheel and covers must be removed, then a hex head clamp screw loosened with a 10mm socket, then the plastic "tab" pressed in to release the combination switch. Pull that combination switch gently towards the rear of the truck, and disconnect all the harnesses, then the combination switch can be removed from the truck. After that the headlight portion can be removed and replaced (or removed and the contacts cleaned up, if you're lucky.

Remember - if you buy a headlight switch, you must match up either the 4-terminal one or the white terminal one.

Here's a combination switch: see http://images.oreillyauto.com/parts/img/medium/bwd/s14569_primary.jpg the headlight part is on the left side in this photo.
