Hi Guys and Girls

I was curious if anyone would have an idea on how to remove an old alarm system from a 1993 Mazda B2200. It's a 5 speed manual with no power options. I've had this truck for about a week and everything ran fine until today. I went to go start my truck and it wont turn over or anything. The dash lights come on when the ignition is turn to the "ON" position but when you crank it over to the "START" position it kills everything electrical.

All the dash lights go dark and then the car wont do anything. When I turn the key back to the "OFF" I get a clicking noise from the alarm control module.

Does anyone have any suggestions for bypassing the alarm or removing it completely. Thanks for the help.

Free - have you tried jump-starting the truck, or having the battery tested?

I'm just not so sure that you're not describing the symptoms of a bad battery.

Cussers spot on, start simple, check your battery voltage, a fully charged battery should have about 12.6volts. Bad connections at the battery terminals are also a common culprit.

And a good battery should still be putting out 9.6 volts or more while in the attempt to start (after holding like 10 seconds). 12.6 volts under essentially no load doesn't tell much (where 10 or 8 volts is obviously bad), must measure under load.

Absolutely make sure the battery terminals are spotless, especially if those emergency-only "repair" terminals have been put on them by a previous owner.

You guys kick ass... Thanks for the help. I went out this morning, polished up the terminals on the battery and hooked it all up. Turned the key and it fired right up. In a thousand years I wouldn't have thought of that and I really appreciate it.

Just out of curiousity. I know my problem is fixed but why would that little black box be clicking under my dash when nothing else was lighting up? Just curious. thanks again guys. You saved me a lot of hassles

Good point on the voltages there cusser, your absolutely spot on.
And free ride the clicking will most likely be a relay clicking on and off, a case or just enough power to activate it but not enough to hold it on,
Glad it was a simple fix for you, certainly beats having to pull the alarm lol.
