As many of you know, squealing brakes can be very annoying. Especially when its not a simple fix.
It first started few months after i bought my 1986 mazda b2000, "squealing" would be the best word used to describe the sound. And it would start only after i had been driving for awhile (seemed possible to be warping problem from the rotors heating up), and it WOULDN'T happen while braking from high speeds, or if i applied the brakes hard/steady. It would seem to happen when beginning to let off the brake (for example, Coming up to a red light i would start to apply the brakes, then as i would get closer to the car in front of me, i would be going slow enough to ease off of the brake a bit to avoid stopping too far back. The squealing would happen when id get slow enough to ease off the brake a little bit. Also it sounds like it's coming from the front wheels.
i didnt think too much of it, just thought i needed new pads. so i replaced the pads, and got the rotors resurfaced. Yet this squealing is still happening. I bought the base model truck because I'm trying to learn how to work on cars, and these base model b2000's are ideal to work on in your own garage. Could this squealing be caused by the caliper getting stuck? If so, would the calipers be easy to replace without serious tools? It doesnt sound like its the brake pads making the sound, it sounds like metal on metal, and like i said its only at slower speeds, when i START easing my foot off of the brake.
Anyone else have a similar problem?
