Alright this is a repost from many months ago. I fixed the problem before by purchasing a new ignition switch and it solved it for around 2 months. It's back to the same thing now. I'll paste the previous thread here.
Hello, for around a year or so I've had a starting issue with my 1991 mazda b2200 FI. When I turn the key sometimes I hear a single click per time I turn the key. Sometimes it starts right up without making the single click. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in or whether the engine is hot or cold. It is totally random clicking. Sometimes I'll have to turn the key 10+ times before it starts. I've checked the ground for the starter, replaced the starter and solenoid, and rewired the wires that go to the starter. Also, when it does click you can hear the starter motor working if you continue to keep the key in the starting position. Well, I believe it's the starter motor working. The starter and solenoid is good, tested at autozone many times and passes easily. I'm not quite sure what the problem could be. If any of you have any idea please let me hear it. Thanks!
