Anybody done it? I have to get rid of this POS linkage setup. What would it take to put a throttle cable on it instead? And could I keep whatever that setup would be on a Weber since it comes with the adaptors to keep the factory linkage system?

I've done it. It was kinda a bitch! I swapped a holley 5200 on my 84. I'll try to get some pics up by this weekend. I had to remove the spotwelded bracket from the firewall that the stock linkage pivots in to drill a hole and pass the cable thru, I welded an arm onto the stock pedal, and temporarily hooked it up and just as I suspected there was not enough travel in the arm to open the carb all the way up, so I had to lower the accel. pedal assy. about 1 1/2" to get a long enough arm to pull the carb to w.o.t. I used an extrmely long LOKAR thtottle cable that I removed from a customers car in the shop, it runs parallel to the valve cover then loops around the carb and runs between the 2 lines from the master cyl. and resivoir. I made a bracket to hold the cable that is also an EGR delete plate. Then I made a bracket to come off of the manifold to hold a pair or carb return springs. It was about a day long job, but the results were worth it. No more sloppy throttle, seems like it took nearly 1/4 of the pedal just to get all the slack out.

here's the pedal lowered with an arm on it.

Here's the cable coming thru where the bracket was.

hard to tell from pic, but cable is mounted in bracket coming off of the former egr valve location.

Definitely looks like a job, especially since I have NO welding skills...

But it would be well worth it! could the same idea work with the stock carb and be transferable over to a Weber 32/36 DFEV (K-674) later? Or would I need a different carb and/or kit?
