okay here i go, well i just swapped out my auto to a 5 speed. did everything that i had to do, install clutch pedal, clutch master, hard lines, slave, and trans. lenthend the drive shaft cuz the trans is 2 inches shorter than the auto. changed the flywheeland all that, bypass the parking sensor thingy. okay now ready to start...starts grinding like hell!. when i bought it from someone, i checked the trans, checked the gears, spinned the shaft was all smooth, then all a sudden starts grinding. took it off again and started the truck and nothing cuz i thought it might be the flywheel grinding against something, but no... so is it possible for the trans to be gone? even though i tested it b4 i installed it? what else could be the problem? it was in neutral and still started grinding upon start up. im ready to throw in the towel help me brothers...

The auto and manual might have different starters. I would compare the two at a parts store.

well it does start and everything just when it finishes cranking over and finally starts then its mean griding...would that change the starter idea or still yet?

so it still might be the starter even though we took the tranny out and started it again and nothing happened?, it still had the fly wheel in and everything, we just dropped the trans and it sounded alright?

Off the top of my head, I wouldn't kill the transmission yet. In no particlular order:
Is the throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch disk, and flywheel all new or guaranteed OK? Is there a bushing or bearing in the flywheel that's the same or the correct type for a manual transmission? There's likely a bushing in the "new" transmission that the starter goes into, maybe it's binding. I'd check the smaller wire to the starter and make sure that it does NOT have voltage once the ignition switch is "released" to the "run" position. Did you wire an interrupt switch onto the clutch pedal (goes to the starter) into the circuit? Did you remove the starter then push-start and observe if the noise is preent then? When you push down on the clutch pedal (get a helper) does the little arm on the transmission housing move? Just some things to check out...

Pull the drain pug and look at the oil...if its got ALOT of metal chances are its junk. They will have a little just from normal wear but if you got chunks coming out i would say its junk.
