i was looking online and i read that a lot of cars dont need bypass hoses cuz the water just flows through the radiator. would i b able to block mine off? cuz from what i understand, it lets coolant flow through the engine wiithout going through the radiator. and this is only before it gets warm. am i right, or is there something really big that i'm not getting?

just fix it right man and save your self problems down the road

ya i would but, if you read some of my other posts, the metal tube sticking out of the engine that the hose goes on broke. and to change that peice, i need to take of a whole lot of stuff, including the timing belt. i'm not scared to take most the stuff off but i dont want to touch the timing belt. and i'm not going to a mechanic cuz its a minimum of 200 and i just dont trust them. and my dad has the ability, tools, and place to do it but he's in LA and i was planning on driving down there this weekend.

the peice is glued on pretty good for now. if the bypass hose isn't a high pressure hose then i'll be fine. and i'm pretty sure its not high pressure

timing is fine to do. just put it to top dead center pull the belt off and slip it right back on the way it was.

idk i'm still not sure about it and i dont want to try it for the first time on my own. is the bypass hose pressurized or does it get blocked off once the engine warms up?

post a pic of what the bypass hose is. im trying to change the water pump and it is stuck due to what I believe is the bypass hose. is this it? would anybody know how to get it off the water pump?

go to my other post, "f*cking engine". i have a pic there of me pulling it off. its right next to the thermostat. but i think that the water pump is near or under the timing belt cover. the bypass hose is a small (7 or 8 inch) J shaped hose.
