i recently took my distributor apart to clean it because it was covered in so much grease and oil that i would have hated myself for putting it back on my engine in such condition. anywho, while i was taking it apart the gasket for the distributor cap which is attached to the ignition module or some shits, broke right where the wires come out... but further in the disassembly, i took off the adjusting braket, and theres one wire coming out of a strange little box, to my recolection this goes to the (-) ignition coil maybe...

heres my setup with the braket on the right

so in this pic theres 2 wire coming from the dist. itself, ones a clip on which goes on the old coil and a (+) eye loop, what do i do about the clip on???

and heres my braket close up, with the wire where its supposed to go

Now. does anyone think this is a problem, i have the weber conversion, pacesetter, msd coil, any help as repeated as it sounds, but thanks!

That wire takes the hiss out of the radio that is caused by the dis. If you don't have the hiss then your ok with out it if you do then you might wont to replace it

OK, for this: mine broke also, likely while I was installing my Weber 2 years ago. I dug out the plastic around the broken nub a little, then soldered the wire onto the now-exposed nub. It's held for 2 years, don't know if I can tell any difference on the radio though.

alright cool i dont think i'll do anything about it for now, i just want to get my truck started.

switching subjects now...

does anyone know what the heck this thing is, vacuum can??? it has a vacuum line that connects to the intake and a throttle cable with a braket that bolts on the valve cover, is it needed with the weber?

Looks and sounds like the vacuum cannister from cruise control. It's not needed with a Weber, unless it's operational and you want to use it. With the Weber, you'd have to attach the CC cable end to the accelerator cable end. With my Weber and aftermarket Audiovox cruise control I had an adapter which looped over my original accelerator cable end, and it's worked fine. I posted some photos showing how mine is hooked up, see

yes its for the cruise control
