it would be easier to do the 4.3 vortec swap like im doing. Speedway Motors sells universal motor mounts for the V8 which are the same as the V6 so all you have to do is weld tabs to the frame. Here is a link to the ones that im using:
Also painless wiring makes a wiring harness for the 4.3 that eases the install. With this harness you will be able to pass emissions by OBDII!! Never make numerous trips to the emission shop to get the damn carb crap to pass emissions. You will need a specific ECM to use this harness and will have to have it re-programmed to eliminate stuff you don't need like 4 O2 sensors. Arizona TPI charges $295 to program the computer how ever you want, this includes performance tuning! Haven't got the harness yet but will in the next few weeks.
If your mazda is an automatic then you can adapt the automatic crossmember to work with the 4l60e tranny.
If you have an extended cab with a 2 piece drive shaft you can have the first section mated to the tranny instead of having a completely new one made.
This is about where im at in the swap but know the direction to where im going like fuel lines, cooling system, and other misc wiring. I plan on writing a tech when im finished which should be in a month or two.
Don't get me wrong, this swap will break the bank, so don't plan on doing this swap in you don't plan on spending over 2 g's. If you are not required to take emissions where you are located then you can use the factory harness and computer from the donor truck which will save you almost a grand.
