well i originally ordered another factory 55amp alternator from the local parts house....it came in today... i asked the partsguy if he could look up a few other alternators for me. i found an alternator from a 95 mustang cobra which pushed 130 amps. it cost 139.00 plus 30.00 core charge
so i paid about 150.00 after taxes for 2.5 times my original alternator....... it looks identical to the one from the previous post regarding the chevy one wire alternator. i'm going to be installing it tomorrow and see what happens. when i told my dad he said" thats a great theory and all... call me back when it works".......lol

so hopefully tomorrow i will have found a cheap inexpensive alternator upgrade for our trucks (plus since i'm probably doing a 302 swap... i already have an alternator for it.......lol)

i think i figured out the wiring dilemma i was having... i found wiring diagrams for the charging systems of both my 90 mazda as well as the 95 mustang cobra i got the alternator from. i will install it tomorrow (if it is not raining) and if everything works out.... i will write a tech article on upgrading alternators from a measley 55-60 amp to a whopping 130 amp for under 150.00 (minus core charge)........lol

ok everyone... i got it done..... WORKS PERFECT!!!!!! it is pushing a consistent 14.5-14.7 while idling around 1500rpm. i will do a write up on it. my stupid ass didnt take pics because it was 40 degrees yesterday and today and raining like hell tuesday so..... i will write it out as best i can... if anyone has any questions regarding this swap then please email me @ or you can pm me.

so the mustang alt. bolted right up??? no swaping brackets or pulleys?
audioinmotioninc   +1y
lol... i forgot about the damn pulley.......lol you will need to reuse your original pulley or find another in the junk yard.... but other than that... it bolted right up and i had to figure out the 3 wires in the back... read the tech article i just wrote about it
