I swaped a FE3 engine into my truck and now for some reason I can't get the trans to shift into reverse. I had to take the trans out and have some welding done on the bellhousing for the swap. I don't really think that the welding caused this problem I think the moving of the trans must of moved somthing internally. The trans only had a little over 100k and shifted into all the gears just fine before. I read somthing about taking the reverse sensor out and prying the reverse shift rod back into position but that was for a miata trans which is supposed to be based on the same trans center section. Does any one know any more about this. I just need alittle more help to figure this out. It does shift into all the forward gears and drives in them as well. HELP ME PLEASE oh yeah its a manual trans by the way.

The trans won't shift into reverse if the engine is running or not. Ive managed to drive it around the block with sticking front calipers and haven't been able to shift it into reverse since I reinstalled the transmission. I couldn't manage to push the truck backward because of the sticking brakes which I'm gonna fix tommrow. What do you think the problem is.

That's allitle erie, I read the you might have installed your shifter incorrectly post, and switched the shifters between the trans on my truck and my spare trans, and it did the same thing. So I took it out again and put the old one back in and was a little extra carefull about centering the shift rod and shifter when I dropped it in and I got my reverse back. Other than that I have virtually no idea about what I did differently.
Thanks for the Ideas.
