Is there any sort of race or aftermarket grind cams for the mazda 2 litre? Also anybody ever do any head work to there motor and what kind of power gains were there? I wanna see what I can do with a mazda motor. Thanks

Paeco in Birmingham will grind any kind of cam u want or need from mild to wild.Polishing and porting heads increases air flow or volumetric efficiency which leads to better performance.Unless u did before and after dyno pulls it would be difficult to quantify. My 2200 went from 85 hp to 122 hp with a change to a Weber carb, better ignition,Paeco street cam, stiffer valve springs, solid lifters, electric fan, aluminum crank pulley, and a ported and polished head-also gasket matched.Hope this helps.

Thanks that defientely help. I was just looking into getting an E fan for it so I can get rid of that noisy fan clutch. What fan are you running?? and is it a "push" or "pull" style fan.

flex-a-lite 13 inch pull type with an adjustable thermostat.bj

before you spend the dough on someone doing a port & polish, you could look @ getting it extrude honed....you'll spend about the same for a port/polish, but the runners will flow the exact same cfm, whereas if someone does it by hand, you may flow a little more in one than another...

I had mine done, it ran @ $600 to get it done, but the runners look like mirrors!
