timing belt deflection

i just got my timing belt on and have no idea how tight it should be, and i have no way or know a way to test deflection. so if i push on the tension side, how close should it get to the tension pulley

i have it so when i push it gets 3/16"-1/4" away from the pulley.

tighter?
