The clutch worked fine before i swapped engines. Are the clutches the same between a 2.0 and a 2.2? I installed a used engine with the clutch still attached. Now When I push my clutch it wont disengage the clutch. It moves the throw out arm a pretty good distance. I am thinking maybe we knocked the throw out bearing off when we swapped them. I'm not sure. I am going to head out tomorrow to look at it. The clutch was only used for a couple of months in a show truck(low miles). I know its good. Are there any differences in the pressure plates? I know the parts stores call for different part numbers. Any help would be great.

The clutch isn't on the engine. So if you just swapped engines it shouldn't have even been touched unless you took out and or swapped the tranny. You said the throw out arm is moving pretty good. Do you mean the slave cylinder rod thats attached to the side of the tranny and pushes the plate that sticks out of the side of the tranny? If that is moving a fair bit then it should be working fine. If its not moving then there are several things that could be wrong with the system.

Its the hydraulic clutch right?

Im almost positive that the pressure plate is bolted to the flywheel and the flywheel is bolted to the crank which in turn is in the engine.

Yes the throw out arm is moving fine. I adjusted the master cylinder rod in the cab, I also adjusted the slave cylinder for proper clearance inbetween the rod and the throw out arm. It moves the arm all the way I believe. I think maybe the throw out bearing became unclipped and slid off and is in the bottom of the bell housing or something else wierd may have happened.

Yea I don't have any experience with the clutch once it enters the transmission. Sounds to me like you may be right along the lines of something in the tranny.

Hope someone else can help you out.

What do you mean it don't disengage?

What does your clutch pedal do?

If it does'nt disengage by your meaning, then when you let the clutch out you can still rev the engine and it has no load? Therefore, it means it would be "stuck" and not engaging...

Lol, a little confsued need more info...

And as far as I know, the clutches ARE the same. Definitely make sure your throwout bearing is on correctly!

What about bleeding the clutch?

the 2.0 and 2.2 do have different flywheels and presser plates. But you can use the 2.2 or 2.0 stuff (all of the above) dont use a 2.2 flywheel with a 2.0 presser plate. If you think the throw out bearing came off then check it from what you say it is posable

The clutch line has been bled, everything outside of the transmission case works properly. I can not get the trcuk into gear when it is running. The guy I got my engine from said the clutch would work in my truck. But when I called him to find out if it was a 2.0 or 2.2 he had no idea. I am assuming I used a 2.2 clutch set up and my throw out bearing for my 2.0 is not making contact for some reason. I didnt get to work on it this weekend, but next weekend, I am going to remove the transmission, install the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plated off my old engine onto the one I just installed in my truck.

there is a hole in the tranny bell housing that is plugged with a squire rubber plug that you can pull to look at the inside of the bell housing to check every thing out start there before you pull things might help you
