Anybody have any thoughts on what to lube to keep the carb from sticking open? It only sticks for a little so it just idles high.

got enough slack in ur accel cable?BJ

Yup. It was fine when the truck got put away and now that its sat for a few months it started to do this. We tried lubing the linkage with no luck.

The main throttle spring on the carb IMO is'nt enough tension to pull it closed to normal idle. Use a secondary spring for more tension and see if it helps.

Actually, my DGEV has exactly the same issue. (1) I'm now using a stronger spring from Ace Hardware. You don't want a spring so strong that your leg will feel like lead on a longer drive. (2) I've sprayed the rear area of the carb with aerosol brake cleaner, then sprayed with an aerosol light oil, and that seems to have worked for several months now. I have a $30 tach, so I don't need to rely on on ear to tell this, but the idle would go to maybe 1100 rpm instead of its usual 900 rpm when this happened, and it would "diesel" when I shut off the engine. It was not anything with the accelerator cable or my aftermarket cruise control cable either.

actually,my cruise and my accel cable were overcoming that weak -ass little return spring on my Weber so I finagled a little more slack aND used a stronger spring-voila.Problem solved.
