im wondering what kind of oil you guys think is best to run in a engine driven compressor. im haveing horrible luck with mine im on my 4th one and im tired of replacing them. even though the first couple were my fault cuz i didnt run an in line oiler, then i didnt run a check valve. i think my setup is good now, i just wanna know whats recomended for oil. ive tried PAG oil, been recomended marvels mystery oil and even got recomended 80 90 gear oil. what do you guys think? thanks

I'd use whats recommended for the compressor, or some 90w gear oil.

its a stock a/c compressor so PAG1000 is whats recomended i think. thanks man, any other suggestions?

Weve been using gear oil and it uses alot of oil. Thinking about filling it with grease and trying that.

i was using 10w40 motor oil but i was going through a quart every other day so i put some thinker straight 30 in it and most of the oil stays in the compressor.so from my experience i found too light of oil will come out really fast but the thicker oil last way way longer. o ya by the way i have a sanden ac pump

Lot of good info in this thread. Will probably be switching to high temp lithium grease in the rotating side of the pump and an in-line oiler on the pumping side. I believe this approach will give you the least amount of pump blowby and therefore the least amount for the oil/water separator to filter out.
