guys, i have put new rings seals and gaskets in my motor thinking that would make it run great, Oil burning fixed

NEXT got a carb rebuild kit took it to a guy to rebuild it for me.... got it done STILL RUNS LIKE CRAP

it pulses and surges and when you get going it blows black smoke out in a puff every time it surges. i dont know what else to do now... any ideas anybody?

Have you checked the timing?

when it surges it is getting extra fuel into the carb which makes the black smoke.Check fuel pump pressure, should be about 3.5 pounds.ALso check and be sure o2 sensor is working properly or even if its hooked up,and as posted above check timing at 6%BTDC.Let us know and we will try to assist beyond those items.BJ

did he just rebuild it or did he check the electronic parts of the carb as well . There is some parts of the carb that is electronic that can go bad. If he did not check them them he might have just polished a turd. Check what hocbj23 said and the EGR make sure its not stuck. Carbon can jam it up and make it not work.

how could the fuel pump be going bad if its giving to much gas? i called the guy rebuilding it and he asked me that question lol i didnt have much to say back to him... hes kind of a dick but w/e i REALLY want my truck back running well and well... seems kind of hard to do

AND when i asked him about the O2 sensor he said he already replaced it with a new one and it was still dumping huge amounts of fuel into the carb I DONT KNOW anymore lol its driving me up the wall

maybe he didnt set the float level right so its just dumping gas in the carb

The carb turned out to be f'd in the a, and then the vaccume lines were all in the wrong spots he rebuilt the carb and then he spent 4 hours of trial and error reading that diagram under the hood to get my vaccume lines right
