My cam gear for 88 B2200 hasn't letter "A"as Hayne

My cam gear for my 88 B2200 has not got a letter "A" alignment with the triangle mark on the housing? It has a "O" 3 gear teeth away from the number "1" stamped on the gear for the timing belt. Has anyone had this?
The reason I'am playing with this is beacause the engine is abolutely guttless. It is automatic and to drive on the flats you have floor it in third gear, if you put it into overdrive you will drop down to 40 MPH very quick!
Anyone?

Its 2.2L. A raging 85hp when they were new. Cant expect much from them.
