ok well all the ranger forums do not seem to have much info.

its a 93 ranger 2.3l fi, it has the dual spark as well. I got it running pretty good but what i cant figure out is my lack of power. It has absolutely no hp, takes a very long time to get through the gears, It seems to be revving clean and as i accelerate it seems clean no surging just SLOW. what should i look at first, i ran the cel codes and it gave me two for the MAF, one was too high of voltage and the other is too low, could of been because i unplugged it while it was running. But i dont think a bad maf would do this, i dont know. What else should i check.

Basically the truck was driven daily and the clutch burnt up. New clutch was installed and it sat for a few months, and this is how it is......I just bought it so all help is appreciated, thanks guys

I'd check the fuel filter if it sat id make sure its got fresh gas. run a tank through it and then run a tank with some fuel injector/carb cleaner or a can of seafoam through it. Id replace the MAF first. that causes a motor to run pretty poorly. check plugs wires coil packs.

Is this the same motor thats in the 90's ford mustang?

do not use any of the injector/carb cleaner in the bottles at advance or gas stations. its a waste of money. if you want to use additives of that nature then seafoam is definetely the way to go. i would get a book to see how to reset the codes. reset the codes and dont mess with anything. run it and see if the code comes back. if it does then replace the maf and go from there.

seafoam is the better additive you can also run some in the crankcase to clean out sludge build up and free anything that may be stuck like "mazda lifters" LoL
