He said his compressor was locked up (middle part won't turn, even by hand), so it's not a refrigerant level issue. I wouldn't go the used route at all on these, not worth it considering that you'll be needing a new drier, evacuation, and recharge no matter what. And you guys in Florida don't know hot, I'm in Arizona. And the two leading suppliers of AC stuff on the Internet are here as well. They both say the only rebuilt compressor to buy is the one from Air Pro, and that's what I have in mine. And I'd keep it R-12, still available, works better than R134a in systems designed for R-12, and more importantly R-12 is compatible with the refrigeration oil already in your system. You may also want to solvent flush the condenser (backward from the dier connection) in case there's debris in there from the bad compressor. I'd contact Warren at .
