clicking noise?

Ok so Ive got an '86 B2000 with a completely stock motor and the other day I started getting kind of a clicking noise that randomly comes and goes while I'm sitting at lights and idling. Its not like a constant click when it comes either its more on and off at random. I stopped and looked under the hood when it was happening and it sounded like it was coming from either the canister on the passenger side or something else over there. Please help me out if you have any idea what might be going on.

perhaps a relay clicking? there are a bunch onthe pass side right there, for horn and stuff

That could actually be it, cuz it sounds kind of electrical. How would I know which one it is?

u might need a helper doing whatever it is that causes the click and you go huntin...

could be a ticking valve.....

Well I'll have to wait for another time to go looking for it because it has decided to stop now haha

my coil does it so check that

If it is a relay you should be able to put your thumb or finger on the relay. You should be able to feel the clicking through the relay cover.

thanks for the help, if the noise comes back now I'll at least have a good idea as to what it might be and what to check first.
