bought my 86 mazda last week after sitting for about yr ad a half. I know the truck well and know when it was parked it ran great. it has 145k on the clock and once i changed the battery , flurefilled the radiator it fired rt up . running a lil rough bout not too bad. Let it run for about 10 min and started running better shut it off and put it back in garage. When out today and started it and it smokes lke a freight train. So i shut it off and check the fluids and my oil looks milkey. I thought head gasket but it didnt get hot yesterday and no smoke now all of a sudden ...smoke ......any ideas?

the hg could have been split a little and then when you let it warm up and then cool down it could have opened it up. do some more trouble shooting and try to narrow down the problem

Valve seals?

I assume before u started it up after sitting for 1.5 years u changed the oil and filter? If u didnt, all the condensation from the last 18 months has settled in ur oil which causes the milkey look.If ur head gasket has blown, oil will look milkey as well, plus u will have an oily sheen to ur antifreeze and exhaust will smell sweetish like antifreeze.Pull ur plugs and see if theu are oiled up or are burning clean. My guess is dried out valve seals.Change oil,use a Maz oil filter change the air filter element and run the truck for awhile, seals may lube up and be ok,but if not they are pretty easy to change.BJ
