a few days ago i drove my truck to work. everything was great. halfway thru the ride my radio went out. so i thought i just had a short. a few minutes later it came back on. minutes later i hit the brakes and the radio went out again, as soon as i took my foot off the brake the radio came back on. i started messing around and turned the lights off and the radio got louder. so it seems that everytime i turn something on or off, something else comes back on or off. i thought maybe my battery wasnt charging or died. minutes later when i was about a mile from my bosses the truck started jumping, i had plenty of gas so i believe that fuel pump wasnt getting the power needed to get the required fuel.

when i got to my bosses i put a charger on my battery (charged all day til i got back). did the same shit all the way home (was about a 30 min ride).

so i got home and took the battery out my camaro, and put it in. the next day still did the same shit minus the jumping.. so it was just the lights, fan, blinkers, and radio that were messing up)... i got thinking about it, and come to the conclusions that its the voltage regulator.... anyone agree? any other ideas? ive checked all connections. everything is good. the alternator is only a few months old. and the batteries are both good. my dad thinks its the volt. regulator also. any other ideas?

take it to the parts store have them run a check on the truck ..it could be the alt batt or starter even

ive already had the alt and batteries checked. when it runs it runs fine. i just cant have many electrical options on at a time. i ordered a voltage regulator. if thats not it then ill return that and see what i gotta do.

isnt the regulater in the alt???

The Alternators on our truck are Internally Regulated. I would assume it is the alternator by what you've said. Do you find it cuts out at low rpm's? If it does i'm willing to bet it's that. Mine did that when my alternator was going out the door. Exactly what you said, radio would cut out. It would run fine when i'm cruising at a good speed with the rpm's a little high but as soon as I slowed down it did just that.

If you have a spare alt, try putting that in to see if that cures it. Also check your "Room" fuse and make sure it in there nice and tight (shouldn't be an issue though).

yeah, that sounds like the exact problem i had on my vw and it was the alt.
when you tested the alt, did you take it out and take it in somewhere?
also if you need a new one I wouldn't skimp on it. I went through 3 cheap remans on my vw before an engine swap (yes they were free to replace under warranty, but it's a bitch to do the same stupid thing over and over)

I have the same problem posted in the audio forum under someones post about electric draw. Did you figure out what it was?
