Ok, this truck i am supposed to be getting-

All new braking system, except front calipers. The rear locks up, but the front takes a few pumps to engage.... he said he as replaced everyting except the front calipers. And bled the ell out of them.

what could it be?

maybe a proportioning valve getting stuck? Or maybe your front calipers are sticking, Try to remove your pads and see about getting a c clamp and pushing in the piston on the caliper if it freezes at some point you know you need a new one

sounds like some one put poewr steering fluid in instead of break fluid swells all the orings i would not touch it if thats the case

but the rear brakes work just fine... and the fronts work after you pump em...

Well, the Orings check out....

what else could it be? Te Calipers are the only thing not new. all brake lines, prop valve, master cylinder, etc are new...

Yea, you COULD have seized calipers..

Don't know what your chances of them being both at the same time...

Tell him to replace the calipers and if it checks out, buy it from him.

Take a look at the break fluid resevoir too. If its dark and nasty you might have debris clogging up the lines.

Jack up the truck and take the wheels off. Look at the pads where the cutout is on the caliper. Have him hit the brake pedal. You want to see both of them clamp on. IE, no push/pull action going on to engage both pads.

well, im already buying it from him. I priced a whole braking setuyp, front to back, and he is discounting me enuff to buy teh whole shebang if need be. He says its all new except the calipers, and has reciepts to prove it. So, maybe i need to do calipers, and master cylinder and go from there?

Yea, you could have a master cylinder problem, or air in the front lines?
