So I was at the junk yard today getting some random parts when I found a valve cover on a 87 Mazda B2200 that had the word Magnum stamped on it. It was factory looking and the only one I've ever seen. Any info on this? By the way I did buy it so I will post pics tomorrow or when ever I get new battery's.

I would go back and get the hole motor just in case it is a true Magnum motor. there supposed to have more power then the reg 2.2.

Wanna sell it?

How do I tell if it is a true Magnum Motor?

^^ So I take it you don't want to sell it, lol.

thread post photo

mazda produced a few in 86-87, they were only sold in japan in the 626 i believe, but have heard some made it to austrailia...slightly higher compression than our trucks 8.6:1, rumored in the 9.?:1 area with larger valves. there is a little info on this link, scroll down till you get to the FET engine
to answer your q of how to tell, pull the head, if it has dome top pistons it's a magnum, more than likely it's only the valve cover...
