i traded my lawn mower for a 89 b2200 reg cab!!!!!

hey guys, long story short, last summer i found 2 identical rear engine riding mowers on craigs list for FREE!!!!! so i picked them up put new battery in each one and they run perfectly, about a month ago i came across a virtally rust free 89 b2200 with carb issues for trade so i talked to the guy and he said sure!!!
so now i have my next project, i just replaced the carb from a truck in the junk yard with 136k.
the truck will start and run but it spits and sputters and i need to keep pumping the gas to keep it running... it has totally hacked exhaust all the way back (back pressure issues?) and i have not had a chance to check the timing.....
any suggestions????

just start with the basics. check the timing and plugs and wires, plugs and stuff like that. and if it has sat it could have bad gas or stopped up fuel filter. just start simple and youll eventually find it.

nice trade.... kinda funny sounding but nice trading.... like said above check those things..... also check the fuel filter..... and that junk yard carb may not be any better then the one you took off..... id suggest posting a topic in the wanted section for a carb. most guys including myself have swapped to the weber which i.m.o. is a better set-up then the stock carb for several reasons..... the most obvious reasons is all those vac. lines and return lines can be rid of....

plugs, wires, fuel and air filter are new, tomorrow i need to check the timing

thanks guys, everyone asks me what are you gonna do with another truc? i say i donno but a mazda is alot cooler than a lawn mower!!!!!! in case you didnt know here is my other mazda under construction right now!
