hey i just got my truck done rebuilt, weber, coil, header. and now the throttle kind sticks open you have to pull the pedal out with your toe for the idle to drop too 1100 then its fine, so i put a stronger return spring on but it still didnt go back all the way, any ideas? and now for some reason after i wrapped the header it glows red hot even with the wrap? but it dosent over heat is this a problem? any help if anyone has had any of these troubles would help. thanks

Glowing usually means its running lean

well i have a mr gasket fuel pressure regulator, and i heard somewhere on here you have to set them at something other then 3.5 but i couldnt remember what. it seems to run fine but do you think that could be the problem?

running lean...and check the linkage with the cable disconnected make sure its not to tight if thats not it check the cable while its disconnected and make sure it moves free as well...if thats not it make sure the cable is adjusted right might be a lil to tight

^Do what todd said. Fuel pressure has no factor in this. If your float bowl is flooding out, get a regulator. Although I highly doubt it is.

A tight linkage or a binding accel cable is going to be the culprit. Unless the return spring is still too weak. I actually went out to Aces and got a 2nd spring to really tighten her up!

Remember, being lean or rich is not going to factor the headers glowing. Being lean is just the equivalent as being rich. Except for being rich you waste fuel and worse emissions, etc...

Exhaust gas temperature is the hottest nearest to the STOICH ratio...

Either:
1. The header wrap is causing it to heat up because of little heat dissipation
2. The header is greatly out of tune. Although I don't see this being the case as mine does'nt.

Is the WHOLE header red or is just parts of it?

If you still have your catalytic converter, then if they are clogged up it could cause the headder to glow.
