wiring trouble

okay i have a relay for one of my compressors that is getting fire hot and the wires running to it are the same. you cant touch them. also my amps started cutting out for my radio and the charge light on the dash started flickering and staying on and back to flickering. i unpluged all the power to that relay and nothing changed. then the amps started working great but everything else still the same. all the lights and everything else works great. no stuttering of the engine or anything like that. im sure its a short somewhere or possibly the alternator goin bad. anybody had anything like this happen to them before? if it has please help me out on this and any other information that anyone else has. thanks in advance.

what size power wires do you have running to ur compressors? they could be a little too small and straining for power, especially if its a long distance to ur power source. ive never dealt with electric compressors but i thought id throw that idea out there.

edit: i just read back through and noticed you unplugged the relay and nothing changed. it could be the problem of your relay getting hot but wont fix anything if it still does it when you unplug it.

tried another relay? swapped one relay for the other and does it do it for the other comp?

Alt is probably going out. Take it off and run to aut0z0ne they'll check it for free.
