i have to replace my contacts/Points every 4-6 months cause the burn themselves out, They have little burn marks on them> Anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it? I have probably bought about 10 pairs since i've owned my ute

I could only think of the fact you are running too hot of a spark? Do you replace the rotor everytime you do the cap?

What do you have for an ign. coil?

my ute never had electronic ignition,89 2.0 FE Carby. i replace condensor everytime i change the points, also has an after market coil, but have changed it once before and still the same thing

Sounds like you need to install a ballast resistor as I think you have too hot of a spark. Could be wrong though. Bounce the idea off of some other people first.

Yes you need a resistor on your coil. Or one with a built in resistor.
