hey, just wondering if any one has done this swap or if any one knows of any one who has. i know that there are plenty of 5L engines, but im leaning towards the 4.6; i just want to find out some more first (also i need cash, but who doesn't =D)

mod motor would be nice, you'll deff need some $$, and time, but it would be sweet...

yeah, i know cost is the biggest issue of this, well and wiring. i was hoping for buying an ex cop car or an old crown vic, this way i would get motor tranny, rear axle and maybe rad? the rest could go to the scrap yard.

rear end would poke out of our beds. i bought a 96 t-bird for this reason. had the motor in my truck but pulled it in favor of the 5.0. i didnt want to deal with all the wiring and a could make more power cheaper with the 5.0. plus those mod motors dont like to get wet at all, so bagging might be out of the question unless you make a nice set of wheel tubs

Around here you can usually find the older mark VII or whatever they were with the earlier ones for fairly cheap. I think the mod motors are pretty wide though. And just use a toyota rear and have the a driveshaft made.

hmm after doing dome research it appears i might want to stroll throught the junkyard, ford made a lot more vehicles with these engines than i expected, and more than just the mustang got 3-valve, some of these were suv's. which tend to roll easy so i might find a cheaper engine...maybe

good luck man! the 4.6 is a sweet engine and i would love to do a swap with full MS2 control. i wonder with something like that if you could even incorperate something like the dodge 8 6 4 system for fuel efficent highway driving?

hmm it could be done, but the control strategy would destroy me. i suck with computers.

anyways, i managed to find a 4.6 from a 2001Mustang with a trans for $600 no ECU though. i would have done it, except i blew the engine in my truck and its my daily driver so i have to do that. this is gonna be pretty much off the drawing board for a while now.
