Engine smokes when choke is engaged at startup

This truck recently got a used engine. When I start it in the morning the thing smokes like crazy but only when the choke is engaged. I get all different colors. Black, brown, grey, sometimes blue..... It goes away after about a mile. This truck sat for about a year and this didn't start till a changed the oil. No, I didn't put in too much oil. Any ideas?

clean the carb real good with carb cleaner and lube the butterfly pivot points with a good silicone lube and see if that helps.bj
