Need more info on your truck. What carb, exhaust, last tune up etc...

last tune up was maby a month ago and it has stock carb stock exhaust but i elminated the tubes going to the breather and cut the mettel around it so its an open filter but it was running like this before i did all that

I'm pretty sure the stock carb is a closed unit and the only screw for adjustment is the idle screw. Does the truck seem kind of lower on power than normal? If so I would suspect that your catalatyc converters are starting to plug up. Also when you eliminate the emissions junk on the stock carb, the computer puts itself into a "limp" mode and makes the truck run richer. Because you said that it was doing it before you modified it, I would guess that either one of your emissions solenoids failed or maybe a vacuum leak somewhere in the 100 miles of tubing? Just go for a Weber and a header. well worth the $$$, it'll pay for itself in headache medication alone lol

ok thanks man. but can i fix the emissions sensor for now untill i get the webber?

yeah i have the same problem, i guess my ratio isnt right cuz my trucks computer goesn into limp mode and runs really REALLY rich, i just disconnect one of the vammums right under the carb so it wont do that, how can i adjust my air/fuel ratio?

Buy a Weber, The stock Nikki carb is a sealed unit

does it still have the original nikki carb. on it? if so that is more than likely your whole problem. My carb. was the same way, the fuel enrichment solenoids go bad on them and cause them to go rich. If you say ur only getting 200 hundred mile to a tank i would say its probably the carb. Mine was doing the exact same thing. Just my thoughts.

regap ur plugs to .035,advance ur timing to 5% BTDC,replace ur air filter with a new factory one or a Kand N.Clean the carb with carb cleaner.Check all ur vacuum hoses for leaks.Tighten the bolts at the carb base (be gentle and use a torque wrench).Clean ur EGR valve. That will help some till u get a new carb.BJ
