O.k....its been about six months since I posted on here but I'm finally getting around to changing my piston rings. I'm changing my rings because I have oil coming out of my valve cover breather. I'm preety sure my head gasket is gone too because I see oil coming out between the block and head right at the rear. I have the engine out on a stand with the head off. My question is, when I change the rings, do I need to hone out the cylinders with that thingy that has all those small little balls? I think its called a flex hone tool. I went to napa to buy one and they come in different sizes. kinda stumped on what size to buy.

the hone tool gives you a cross-hatch pattern on your cylinder walls. A "cross-hatch" pattern is used to retain oil or grease to ensure proper lubrication and ring seal of pistons in cylinders. A smooth glazed cylinder wall can cause piston ring and cylinder scuffing.
