hey guys, i dont need to pass emissions here anymore so i removed my cat, so now all i have is the muffler, however i cannot find one that is quiet enough with no cat, stock is too big. any suggestions for a cheap, quiet, slim, muffler?

what about a turbo muffler, they can be fairly quiet, cheap and usually about the size of a flowmaster 40 series

I don't run a muffler just the cat and it is super quiet suprisingly.

rode in a buddys truck not to long ago and i asked how come it was so quite. aparently he had a header that went into a "cherry bomb" then into a stock muffler it was amazingly quite couldn't hear it idle exhaust wise and min. noise at normal speeds. this is what i am doing in the next couple weeks to mine when i got it the pre cat pineapple was clogged so i just knocked all that out and reinstalled. when i got it they just hacked the exhaust right under the driver seat no cat no muffler so it would sound "mean". i laughed cause i have never heared a mean 2.2 mazda

Some turbo mufflers are louder than others. The tine ones are usually single tube, and pretty loud. I took some big ones off a guys truck, and they sounded pretty good and not too loud, but he wanted some 40 series. I got to keep them, so I cut them apart. I took the design, and put it into a smaller compartment. So now I make my own! Lol.

Bagged - would be interesting to hear how those sound!!! Twisted - I did end up building one of your turbo mufflers with some fiberglass in the middle chamber. Sounds good! And considering the size of these engines I can't see how there would be excessive back pressure. Will try to get a sound clip one of these days once I get it out of the garage. Again, Thanks Twisted for the idea and info.
