I have owned well over 60 cars in the last 16 years and this is only my second mazda. My question is why in the world do these trucks ALWAYS go through head gaskets??? Is there something that can be done, expensive or not, I don't want to be changing heads or gaskets every 10k, 20k miles. Thanks for the help and info everyone!

The mazda 2.6 heads have coolant passages that were too small and allowed them to overheat easily, blowing head gaskets and sometimes cracking the head. Mazda knew about the problem but did not change the design. Just have to keep an eye on the temp and make sure its not getting hot.
