Hey guys as you might have read in my rookie thread Im goin to pick up my b2600 tommorow. My dad went today and took a look at it. A few weeks ago when he told me about it he said it had a miss, that he thought it had a crack in the distributor cap. So I thought well that is defiantly gonna be it. Well today he when and replaced the cap and said it was still doin it. I know Im not giving you guys alot to work with, as I haven't heard it yet. I'm just curious if there is somethin on these trucks maybe that gives them problems alot. I think it may be either the fuel pump or on of the plug wires burnt or something. Just thought Id ask

I would check, in this order...

Spark plugs / wires (just unscrew them and pull them out of the block and away from anything, start the truck and see if it sparks)

Distributor cap / rotor

ignition module / solienod

valves guides, stems, springs, ect

Fuel injector (if carbed scratch that)

Head gasket / compression in general

Lastly fuel pump and filter. If it's the fuel pump or filter the whole engine would be performing poorly, not just one cylinder.

Ok edited title it is a 1990 B2600i. It will turn over one time then thats it. Im like 100% sure it is a fuel issue. The truck was wrecked in Sept. and supposedly ran perfect before that, nothing seemed to be mechanically hurt by the wreck. I think it is the gas maybe even the the filter. It has a new distributor and all plugs are getting fire there is just no gas for them to combust.

I didnt have time to drain the gas, Whats the best way to do this? A new fuel filter will also be done soon.

Id check the computer to see if any of the resistors or capacitors are leaking. Its under the passenger side kickpanel. They will leak and cause random problems of not running. If thats the problem av pro( ) will repair it for about 100-150 bucks. Just another thing to check.

This is a REALLY good example of REALLY BAD advice.

If you have a FUEL INJECTED ANYTHING,

NEVER, REPEAT, NEVER pull the spark plugs, CONNECT THEM, and lay them anywhere and CRANK THE ENGINE.

THE INJECTORS WILL BLAST 45 PSI RAW FUEL OUT THROUGH THE SPARK PLUG HOLES AND THE SPARK PLUGS WILL IGNITE IT.

And then you will be standing there wondering why someone gave you such stupid advice while your truck goes up in FLAMES.

And then I don't guess you will have to wonder why the truck is missing, because it will be GONE, along with HALF OF YOUR HOUSE, GARAGE, OR MAYBE YOUR FACE WHEN THE FUMES IGNITE.
