I had a 510 do the same thing. I broke my cam a #1 cyl it would run but would only get up to about a grand then die some crazy shit man. I would run a compresion test an each cly. Might give you a idea where you losing it.check your plugs and wires spray the shit out of the carb with some good claener.may pull the valve cover and make sure its all in place. good luck

I'm willing to bet that your heat riser tube from your exhaust manifold to your air cleaner is missing. The stock Nikki carbs are famous for icing up especially when the temp is just below the freezing mark outside. When it is doing that pull off the air cleaner lid and look into the carb, you should be able to see a thin layer of ice on everything. It usually will melt if you let it sit and idle for a couple of minutes, but as soon as you drive again it will ice up again

i dont think its a compression test cause it would run fine for like 30mins then be right back surging and then die it smells like its flooding and i burned a whole tank of gas in like an hour

Maz's are bad about water condensing in the fuel filter and freezing when it gets cold enough.Run a can of HEET or something similar in tank. Also check heat riser tube as posted above. If it wont get above 2000 revs, something is impeding fuel delivery.bj
