im trying to wire in a msd ignition 6a to my 89 mazda b2200 4 cyl.anyone successfully running it without any problems?a wiring diagram or something.i hooked it up but when i add gas it dies.......and when i add gas all the way to the floor it holds back power.the stock ignition did better,so i know im missing something else or need to wire something in.im using the 8910 tach adapter and was told i might need the diode.i diconnected everything from the coil except the two from the msd.any help please...and appreciate it.

I run a 6a on my b2200 it was a pain to wire in and was about 4 years ago so cant remember off the top of my head but i had to leave all the little stock crap hooked up. I can tell ya this it does real nice with it on the truck. I will look after work for ya and let ya know what wires i used.

Ok here is how mine is.White from msd to blue going to dist, red from msd to black white that used to goto coil and the black white to dist. Orange from msd to pos side of coil and black to neg side of coil no other wires hooked to coil. I dont have the tack adapter so i dont have the yellow hooked up. Hope this helps!

im going to hook it up again.any problems with the msd you ran into?

eventually a tach will be hooked up,in this case i already have the adapter 8910 but where do i hook up the yellow(is it strictly for the tach?).oh and just to let you know it the stok coil for now,is that a problem?thanks man i hope it works and ill post back later.

wire it in just like you told me although, now im getting no fuel?fuel pump aint turning on,what wire controls it?truck idled and ran with the gas inside the carb for about a minute or two,but then didnt idle after that.if i spray carb cleaner in constantly itll stay on but thats it.

Mine has a carb. Does yours have electric pump? Did you hook the 3 wires together black white that used to got carb to the red on msd and the black white to dist? can you take a pic of it?

amn i cant find my camera but i did by an electric fuel pump with 3-5 psi 32 gph.ran it into a 5 gallon gas can and the truck started no problems it was smooth too.

my only concern is that in my mazda book it says the yellow wire that goes to the - coil deals with the fuel pump control unit.

white wire msd=blue from dizzy
red wire=black from dizzy, black from coil positive (yellow unhooked)
orange msd=coil positive
msd black=coil negative
heavy black=directly on negative battery post
heavy red=opposite as above
magnetic trigger taped off.

no fuel pumping, the posi flo cannot suck up the gas from the original lines, too much strain i guess.
when you hooked it up no problems with fuel?hopefully your is electric no the mechanical.all i know is im hoping this aint the original fuel pump, cause i dont think i can pull the bed alone.

I would try hooking the yellow wire to the neg side of the coil. I checked my coil with key on and both sides have power.

yea, i tried the yellow but still no power to the pump, autos came with electric pumps im thinkin its the original.now i have a facet pump, a pressure regulator set at 4.5psi(the lowest)trucks runs, dies at idle once in a while, misses slightly when i stomp it but immediately catches.probably gonna get a weber a lower psi regulator and see if it helps.spent too much already but not satisfied,haha....
