I was tightening my belt on my B2200 last night and i realized theres alot of crap under my hood.
Alot of the vacuum hoses to the left of the air cleaner arent even hooked up. Tried unplugging a few more and unplugging them does not effect the way the truck runs/idels etc... no CELs either. The box thats supposed to be on the front of the air cleaner isnt even there anymore (previous owner did away with it) Theres just a huge mess of useless vacuum hoses and such.
Heres some pictures.
Again , i'm no concerned with passing inspections and such. I would like to remove as much junk out of there that i dont need.

you can get rid of all that mess, along with the lame carb, by swapping in a weber. My B2200 is efi, so i don't know the procedure, but many others on here could help. I'd suggest looking through the forums for threads about thew weber carb. best of luck.

Thanks! Eventually im going to do a weber. I work for a shop thats restores antique italian cars and i can also get my hands on a couple of side draught webers (originally for an alfa romeo gtv) and if i feel like actually spending money on this 2.2 i may go that route. But i'd like to clean up that mess before i do that or just a simple weber.

Is most of that mess removable without any harm? I may just do some trial and error until its as clean as it can be and it still runs lol

not sure if it's all garbage, the trans may need a vacuum source for shifting if it's an auto. you can get rid of the charcoal canister for sure and all the crap attached to it. another guy on here has done side draft carbs, and they look really trick, search for it. you'd have to refer to someone with a carbed engine for more info about other crap you can remove.

You cant really remove any of that stuff if you still have the stock carb. It wont run well for very long without that stuff. If you want it gone you can get a weber like was said before and all that crap on the passenger fenderwell can be removed.

Well , i guess i have to get a weber regardless dont I.

Thanks guys

I got rid of most of the junk around the motor and still have the stock carby, I've been driving around like that for a few years now.

It's alot tidier now though, I've removed most of the junk that I could around the block, relocated the fuses under the battery tray, shifted my air horn pump to behind the grille, blanked off the unused hoses in the inlet manifold and cut and removed unused wires wherever I could.
Currently i'm deciding if I should remove the fan and fit a electric one, you can never remove too much unused junk.
If you do start stripping stuff just don't forget to block off hoses, I went to the local wrecker and got heaps of those little rubber caps, didn't cost me anything and looks better than a screw in the tube like I have seen.

Pics of said caps would be sweet.
Yeah you can run with most of the gone. I had a long bed that had stocky and ran strong as hell. Damn taht was a good little truck.

Sorry I took so long, I couldn't find my camera so I took pics with my phone then realised I couldn't find my cable i carefully put away in all my careful tidying I did recently... ok I lost it.

Anyway here's a blurry pic of said caps (I think my phone had beer goggles on looking at them now), they just blank off vacuum inlets, looks much tidier than most other ways (except filling with solder and filing smooth)
I'm pretty sure they come in various sizes too
