I do have one T25 from a DSM that I may use on some kinda 2.0L for my Mazda. My wife has a 97' Sonata and the paint is peeling off of it like crazy, but it has a NA 4G63 in it, its only got like 60,000 on it, so I might end up using the RWD adapter plate to bolt it to a GM tranny for in my truck, and then strap that turbo on it. I donno *shrugs*

The ones *should* be rebuilding this weekend are for a VG30DETT. Which brings up my options for an engine swap...

I can:
A. Use the VG30DETT
B. Use the 4G63 converted to RWD Turbo
C. Trade the VG30DETT to my uncle for his 68 spec 302 Chevy.

Also seeing as it rains 3/4's of the year here I wanna stay with an open rear end, and I don't wanna use too wide of tires in the rear. *shrugs*

Im gonna go wander around a take some photos of the various projects now, Later all.

Wow!!!! Welcome to the site man. As mentioned you should deffinetly make it to Mazda Fest. It will be a hell of a kool time.

Now on to the Magnum motor....You are soo kool for being willing and knowledgeable enough to run these test for these guys. I am sure HocBJ (resident old fart that is kool as hell) and MazdaTweaker (resident engine guru and also kool guy) will get on here an barade you with questions. These two have an ongoing investigation into whether or not a true Magnum motor exist and if it does what is different about it. So kudos to you for helping to possibly shed some light on this subject.
Oh yeah....post the damn pics already. LOL just playin man.

Well pictures are being uploaded to imageshack right now, its being a stubborn lil bitch so its taking a bit :/ just like everything today.

So it turns out that the Magnum engine that I have is a F8 1.8L, standard looking 3 valve B series pistons, 9.0:1 compression ratio, same 86mm bore but destroked to 77mm. Which is less than thrilling to me, if it was V-8 I would be thrilled with a 3 inch stroke, but on an anemic mazda 4 banger :/

Thanks for posting your information.

I think after you put your engine back together and redo a compression test, you are going to find that your compression has dropped to 8.6:1, due to removal of carbon buildup.

I also think you have proved independantly what I have stated repeatedly:

The MAGNUM motor is a destroked FE.

1.8

The only reason it got the MAGNUM label is due to the bigger bore and pistons than the 1.6 it evolved from.

The problem with a myth / rumour is that ignorance keeps it alive.
