starrting problems!

well i got a 87 b2000 and i had to replace the water pump gasket and its not starting but i had to get a stock carb cause some guy messed the old one up trying to rebuild the thing. it acts like it wants to turn over but it not starting up the plugs are getting fire,could the timing be off? and how do you fix the timeing belt? if its off time? im stumped on this one

Did you set your number one piston to top dead center and the dizzy pointing to number one on the cap before you took the timing belt off to change the water pump? If not, you need to line up your timing marks and reinstall the t belt.

What hawaiian said...also double check that you have the plug wires installed correctly on the dizzy.....
