do i need the one on the manifold it broke by accident,do it control anything or just used for the gauge?what about the thermostat housing one?thanks.im putting in fans as well and was reading that if the truck doesnt get up to operating temperature thats bad, these fan flow 3300 cfm by the way.

The one on the intake near the carb, isnt really needed. The one next to the thermastat housing is the one that tells ur gauge where the temp is. So I would keep that one.

All of Tweakers comments are accurate IF u r running the stock carb set-up.All those "useless" sensors have a purpose in a closed loop system where the carb is actually more of a throttle body;ie Maz trucks. They r needed for pollution control. If u go to a Weber or Holley 5400 or something else and tune the truck properly,u can achieve better mileage AND meet pollution standards.Tweaker gets the nasties occasionaly but he means well>LolBJ

I just installed a weber and removed all the usless crap. If it were EFI then I'd be concerned about conecting that sensor.

thanks guys thats all i needed to know,my trucks carb and my other play toy is a late 80s 323, recently converted to carb,i needed the coolant sensor hole to tap a coolant reroute.i pulled that off and it runs, but wondered if i needed that ya know.if that coolant sensor played a part in driveability cause it feels like it misses until i puch it and it catches and no problems.

not sure on the engine operating temperature too, would 3300 cfm be overcooling it(b2200).

If u will use a 2 stage 160/180 Maz thermo u should be fine.BJ
