I was driving in my b2200 the other day and it just quit out on me, i have checked several things and it seems that there is no spark coming out of the coil, the coil is getting 12v but its not throwing out any spark... is there anything that tell the coil to spark? i did new wires, coil, cap and rotor and still nothing...any help or info would be great, Thanks

check to see if you have any spark at any spark plug wires. if none, pull the coil wire, check for a spark with that. if yes... then pull your distributor apart again and check the rotor and all that. make sure everything is inline. if no spark you may need a new coil. anyone near (or you have a spare?) with a known good working one?

you have a new coil? it sounds like you installed a new coil you may have a faulty one

hey guys, thanks for the info, i have some updates on the problem... i've installed 2 other different coils and had the same problem with both of them... The truck will run and will die while driving and then not start up again.. it seemsthat the coil is only throwing spark sometimes (no pattern or anything logical) it will randomly decide to start and other times it wont... ive checked all of the ground wires that i can see and any other wires going to/from the coil... I know the coil/cap/rotor ARE good now (as it runs sometimes) but I think the problem is something isn't telling the coil to spark... What tells the coil to throw a spark? ( b.t.w. both the positive and neg. posts on the coil both have constant power?)

Another thing I thought of... i Know in other cars (honda's, etc.) theres a thing called an ignitor that tell the coil when to fire... I havent heard of an ignitor in a mazda but is there anything equivilant to an ignitor on these trucks?

dont know if it will help or not, but i have heard older folks talk about having to reset the gap on the distributors i think.

its in the ignition switch. its not sending signal to the coil letting it know its on. when the truck dies and you try to cut it back on, does the dummy lights at the bottom of the dash cluster not come on? when it finally starts up the lights are there right?
