hey guys, whats my best bet? i'm going to need a complete sending unit within the next few months... i dont really want a used one unless i can find one that looks really clean... i have a whole spare parts truck, but thats the reason im using that one... im not planning to bag this truck, so i'm not currently thinking of a custom tank lol. but i might as well replace the whole tank also, mine is rubberized, but has rust up top and around the center seam... so has anyone replaced theirs' within the last year? looks like the pump assembly retaining ring just bolts on from the replacement pictures i have seen... i'll have to scrape to get at the heads of them...

one of the fuel lines going into the tank... exactly where it connects to the top of the sending unit, top of the tank has rusted and started leaking... also whilst trying to pull thy tank, pulled one of the connections on top... i was able to dremmel/sand the connection and solder it back on... temp fix for the fuel line was cleaning up the line with dremmel again, sanding and wirewheel disc... and brake cleaned the whole thing, now im going to use 'shoe goo/household goo/automotive goo' to seal it up and a bunch of liquid electrical tape for my connection...

my truck is 2200, FI

haha, you can buy them new, but there not cheap, and a dealer piece only, i would find a a used one, if the parts truck one is good, use it, if the screws are messed, drill them out and go get replacements from a nut and bolt supply, there are places that can rebuild them them but i dont know who
good luck james

This exact thing has just happened to me. I found the best deal for a new one at partstrain.com For my truck i can get the whole fuel pump assembly for around $80. Just the sending unit was like $40. I have a 93 s10 so im not sure what the prices will be for a maz, but its worth looking into.

no - Rockauto.com has a good price - i think i paid under 80$ shipped ( its been a couple yrs sense i ordered mine.

alright, well i pulled it outside to finish putting the driveshaft back on, and bolting the tank back in... and just sitting in the sun it started leaking! lol, too much pressure for the lil line to handle... so i scraped off all the goo i tried to seal it with... then got out permatex 'cold weld'... same deal as JB weld... and have the gas cap loosened to allow it to vent... see how that goes tomorrow... then i gotta put the box back on.

on a good note got the rear air shocks on, they work pretty good! hard to tell with no box on how much lift they give... but i'd say a good 3" and more if i could get the max 200 psi into them lol... my lil compressor only fills up to like 90.

some weight reduction was also implemented... bunch of rust off the frame, and removed all the spare tire hardware before it bit me when hoping in and out working on the thing...

i checked autozone, i think it was #140 or so there, rock auto i also checked out, they were something like $120. i'll check out that first place mentioned and see what i find. i have to pull the one in the parts truck anyway at some point to see if that thing runs, so i wd-40'd all the bolts related to the bed and leaf springs also... but i'll still get a new unit for this truck me thinks.

120? that doesn't sound right to me - from rockauto.. post a link to the one you looked up.

got one ordered at a local store near me, i have dealt with them lots and decided to drop in after being disappointed by the major store of the area- 'automotive warehouse' (which told me $80 on the phone and some dumb b!tch at the counter looked it up when i came into get it...cause the guy who i called was gone, and she found me one for $260 or something like that...you're keepin that one). so i'm paying $70 at 'raco' tomorrow when they get it in. no fuel pump included, just the main assembly.

for the rockauto part, i cant post a link as the web address doenst change when you look at their catalog. fineline part #su941 $130
actually just looking at it more now, that is for a regluar cab truck, mines extended. i wouldnt be surprised if its the same, but the tanks are different. rockauto doesnt even seem to have the carbed 2200 listed... shows 2 diesels and the mfi engine.

Here's a link to the website i was telling you about. I prob didnt put in the right specifics for your truck but this will give you an idea of the prices on the site run. Hope it helps

hehehe just noticed yesterday at like 5:30 that the part i picked up/got is wrong. he pulled it outta the box at the store and asked me if thats the right one... i looked at the shape of the top and said yep looks like it... and was just happy it was new and shiny.... forgot to count how many wires needed to go to the thing... they gave me a carbed sending unit, only has hook ups for the tank level... and no spot to mount a fuel pump...lol

today is canada day and things are closed... they had just closed when i discovered it was wrong. luckily i looked at it closely before tearing into mine, and my temp seal is still holding alright.
