Guys
Is the Weber 32/36DGEV a bolt on replacement or must an adaptor plate used as well.I also see a lot of 32/36 DGAV around and can these be used also.I guess what i'm trying to say is which is the easiest conversion to do.
Cheers

I believe both carbs will require an adapter plate which usually comes with the carb when you by it.

Well it does bolt on with a adapter but there is more to it then that. You have to block off all the Vacuum/emission garbage that used to go to the old carb/air filter housing. If I remember correctly you will only use 1 vacuum line and that goes to the vacuum advance on the dizzy. Depending on which way you go you will have to find a switched wire to feed a electric choke or the thermostatic style you need to run smaller coolant lines to the choke as the coolant heats up and warms the spring in side and releases the choke and then the Manual Choke simple route a choke cable. I myself prefer the Manual choke (32/36 DGV). Other things take in variance here as well are you buying a new kit, used kit, or separately sourcing the pieces as you find them. New kits are the way to go because they come with almost everything needed for the swap. Used kits are good as well especially if you find a full used kit for your vehicle. Or single sourcing well this can be a pain and cost as much as a full used kit. Either way any used carb I always recommend re building because no matter what they ALWAYS seem to run "Great" when pulled. Then you install it and the truck runs like crap because the carb was obviously pulled for a reason what ever it may be. The 32/36 DGAV if I remember correctly is a thermostatic style choke and the 32/36 DGEV is Electric choke. Also you may have to use a fuel pressure regulator with the carb. I have only had to use 1 once for some reason 1 of my trucks would flood out if I didn't have the regulator. But others would run fine so that part would be trial and error or just put a regulator on and set it and call it good.

Each carb has it's perks I'm sure but with the electric chokes as soon as you get the truck running if you tap the pedal on accident or on purpose the choke turns off Thermostatic style DGAV well never used one always converted to manual choke, so I now for the Manual choke well it's my favorite simple pull the cable start the truck let warm u for a sec and then you can go on your merry way with out the choke kicking off do to hitting the gas but you do have to find that sweet spot with the manual choke. Once the truck is warm simple slide the choke cable in. I've driven a few Mazdas and a TON of Datsun this way with the manual chokes with no issues. I don't know if this helped or not but good luck with the swap.
