Well I've been having some troubles with my truck lately. It started with a kind of squealing noise, when i was in 3rd 4th and 5th gear, but only when I would accelerate slightly, if i accelerated hard or let off the accelerator it went away. We replaced the throwout bearing thinking that may be it, but it wasn't, the noise went on for a day or two and then just vanished. This lasted for about 2 weeks and no noise whatsoever. Then last week. I started hearing a little squeaking noise every once in a while in second or above when I would accelerate lightly but once again under heavy acceleration or none it was gone. THEN today when I was pulling down my grandparents road, I started hearing a kind of grinding/clanking noise when I let off the gas, so I shut the truck off and let it roll down the hill that's on my grandparent's road & the noise was even there in neutral. So on my way back home to Chattanooga today on I 75 when I was coming down the mountain, I let off the gas and right before I was completely off the gas it started making that noise again & had a little bit of a shake to the truck, once again when I hit the accelerator, boom its gone again, let off the accelerator completely & it felt like normal, but when I would slightly push the gas in voila it was back again. My truck is an 86 b2000 ex cab, my dad seems to possibly think it is the carrier bearing in the two piece drive shaft but were not sure. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. I just had the first interview for a job that I've had since I was laid off in March & I'm supposed to find out if I got the job or not this week, but it will really suck if I get the job and the truck breaks down on me because I have no other means of transportation whatsoever. Also I have another 2 piece drive shaft but I believe it's from a standard cab, if the drive shaft wont work, will it's carrier bearing?
Thanks in advance!
