header problem

my passette header hits my tranny. i did a tranny sawp for an automatic and the header hits it were the 4 tubes weld to one at the bottom..what have u guys done to fix this problem

You have a couple options.

1. Take the header off and put back on the stock system, which works about as well as anything, considering 85 horsepower. An automatic transmission is an additional power leech. Somebody lied to you about what the header is going to do for you.

2. Take the header off, and grind down the transmission where it contacts the header. The header was designed for a truck with a manual transmission, so you have to modify something if you are going to insist on using it.

3. You could use a brazing torch to heat up the header where it contacts the transmission and while that part is red hot, push it in some with a pry bar. Of course, you have to be careful not to burn a hole in the header, or punch a hole into it with the prybar.

did u cut the bottom of ur tranny?

the header is only meant for a manual transmission. your definitly gonna have to modify the tubes where they are hitting. i probly wouldnt grind down the bell housing because that would weaken that area of it. how many runners are hitting?

the first two are but were the end up been all in one..well thats were they all hit

Uhhh... ok...you also shouldnt cut your frame up and do body drops either. I'm just sharing what I did and mines works great.

I cut a notch on the side. I think theres supposed to be an iron bracket that conects from the motor mount to the trans. I just left that bracket off and cut a notch on that bottom piece of the trans.
